What a fun place this is to visit with kids! What kid doesnt love playing in the sand. The history of the place is fascinating as well.
We were so glad we went.

This is a real sand desert, created by over-farming on top of sand dunes formed by melting glacial deposits. Old farm buildings were actually completely covered up by drifting sand dunes! Now a museum and tourist attraction, you can camp right next to the desert, hike the trails and take the tour on a wagon while they narrate the history. They also hide colored gemstones in the sand and allow little kids to find them, always exciting for the kindergarten set! I threw my pocket change into the sand to create extra excitement! Truly an educational oddity worth checking out.
Good place for small children

When you do go sign up with the guided tour and you can learn the historics of this peice of land. Take some walks down their nature trails. You can sit on the benches(logs) and let your children play in the sand. They have some sand dunes which look really cool.
