I'm VERY picky about who I spend my time with, ideally someone in between "harbor hog with a sparkling personality" and "runway model who's dumb as a bag of bricks." Brains > boobs (but hey, in a pinch - boobs will do). That trail of broken bones and burning bodies behind me is all the dull and boring people who bounce off my bug shield as I drive through life. I'm a relatively openminded athiest... I respect other peoples' beliefs and religions, if they respect my own standpoint. I like biking, but not competitively. I like to draw, but have much room to improve. I'm calm, quiet until engaged with other people in some sort of activity, show, etc.

I like to consider myself simple; I don't ask or expect much from life.

I am a wholesome person. I don't dye my hair, I don't wear pointy high-heel shoes.. or makeup.. and i don't spend my money on designer manicures or whatever. I am sexy and gorgeous without that stuff.

I can be found most nights in a hospital room helping deliver babies, helping new moms breastfeed and changing diapers. I am so lucky to have found my calling and be able to follow its path. I love my job and hope that you love whatever it is you do. I moved away for a bit and missed Maine so much that I moved back home a few months ago; one of the best decisions I've ever made. Being able to spend time with my family is priceless; I love being around people who truly want each other to be happy and support each other through everything. I feel pretty settled in the rest of my life, and want to share my happiness with those around me.

It is very hard to write about yourself because I think the best way to find out about someone is to ask. Regardless here I am and giving this a try. Sometimes it is so hard to meet new people with a job and life getting in the way. I love to have fun and make the best out of everthing. I am not a negative person nor like to be around negative people. I enjoy going out as much as I enjoy staying in and relaxing. Which isn't to say that I don't spend money or purchase things. That would be a very difficult proposition in this society of ours and anyway, I'm a hypocrite, like you I'll wager, although it's not intentional.

I hope that you will be: younger and shorter than me, generally fit, eternally curious, self sufficient, adventurous, a non-smoker, without children, strange (in the best possible way of course), and enjoyable to spend time with.

Before you waste your time reading my profile, I think I need to clarify some things:

(1) Although I am a single girl on a dating site, that doesn't mean I am necessarily unhappy with that. I'm most definitely open to the possibility, though.

(2) I am, in all probability, a hell of a lot smarter than you.

(3) I really like lists.

With that being said...

I like most people. This doesn't make me a nice person, though. I don't like the judgmental or overly narrow-minded ones. I'm really not interested in people who really believe that Fox News is "fair and balanced".

I can get really high-strung over coffee, work, and/or school (which has ended for now, thank goodness). With enough sleep and good food, though, I can be pretty easygoing. (Quitting coffee in October was one of the good decisions of 2009.)

I like laughing. It gets a little embarrassing at the most interesting moments.

My attention span is nonexistent. I also apparently get really distracted in conversations and talk like a comment thread.

I take photos of everything. Don't say I didn't warn you.

I write a lot, in secret.

I cook a lot, and I like to experiment: I'm debating whether or not to make a batch of bacon chocolate-chip cookies. <<DigitalAdrianne>> says I should. If I like you enough, I will feed you until you beg for mercy.

I knit and crochet. I have enough yarn to theoretically bury a person (I'm trying to manage it, okay).

I am geeky. It's just one of those things, I guess. My idea of a rocking Friday night is chess club. I can probably solder better than you, and I collect Rubik's cubes.

I like to sing when I'm alone, or drunk during karaoke night (do you know any good places in the area?).

I give good backrub. Really good backrub.

Through lots of soul-searching and learning from what life has handed me, I've grown into a joyful, settled and adventersome woman. While I'm content living alone, it would be lovely to find a man who's grounded and similarily self-aware with ample curiosity to boot. A guy with an active mine who will want to stay up past midnight if we're still working out our plan to save the UN, or deep into spiritual musings. And conversely, someone who can appreciate silence when we're both feeling introspective, but when it's time to be silly, we rush out the door in our Groucho Marx look-alike glasses and mustaches.

I'm still working on this. There are many things I could say here, I get started and just don't really like how it's coming out. It's not that I'm a perfectionist or overly critical or even narcissistic. I just seem to be having some difficulty summarizing myself in a paragraph or two. I donâ??t think Iâ??m particularly easy to pigeon hole. If you know me a little bit you would probably disagree but thatâ??s only because you know one side of me. You couldnâ??t accurately describe a lasagna by looking at the top. I guess Iâ??m saying Iâ??m like a lasagna, with many layers that individually can be boring or even distasteful but when you put it all together itâ??s completely delicious. Hah! I like that :^)

I am, if nothing else, an interesting person, funny, outgoing, well traveled, and open to new things. A few basic facts: If I don't live near the ocean I go a little crazy. I know all the words to the Team America soundtrack. Amelie Poulain is kinda my hero. I have a playlist on my ipod that contains over 70 t.v. theme songs to which I know almost all the words, but I don't watch t.v. (maybe some shows on dvd). I used to be painfully shy, and still have my moments. I love terrible movies like Mortal Kombat and Super Mario Brothers the movie. I was a religions studies major in college because religion fascinates me, but I don't have a particular religion myself. I think there is no bad day that can't be improved with a bottle of wine. I truly think the world could be a much better place if people stopped being so apathetic, got off their asses and did something. I have no rhythm (I can't even clap on beat with a song) and am possibly the world's worste dancer ever, but I love to dance. I like to go apple picking in the fall and I think any day involving miniature golf, air hockey, red wine on the beach at night, or old school Nintendo games is pretty much perfect. I want to go to every country at least once before I die. I've been to more than a dozen other countries and have lived in 3 of them. I've made mistakes, and I have stories to tell, and they'll make you laugh. I want you to make me laugh too. I think sometimes it's o.k. to have polished off several bottles of champagne with your friends by noon, and I think as long as you aren't cruel you should never ever apologize for being who you are, even if other people think you're a little odd.

I don't expect somebody to share most of the same interests as me. I really just want somebody I'll have chemistry with, and that can't be faked or forced. Being alone is preferable to being with somebody when there isn't that spark. I want somebody with a slightly sarcastic sense of humor who can take my jokes and dish it right back to me. I'm the kind of person who will mock you mercilously if you do something stupid (and hope you would do the same for me), but also who gets up to start the shower for you so it'll be warm in the winter and picks you up a cinnamon bun at your favorite bakery because I want you to know I was thinking about you. Little things matter way more than grand gestures. Be happy to see me at the end of the day, hold my hand when I'm uncomfortable or nervous, but don't expect me to be the kind of girl who needs to be attached to your side when we're out. I have a close group of friends, we're like a family. Understand that I like my friends and I like my life and I'm not looking to give all of that up to have a boyfriend. I want someone who will be ok with me having my own life still and will have his too. If you don't spend any time apart you run out of things to say to each other. I don't care if we have nothing in common as long as conversation isn't forced. Basically, this is what I want with someone: crazy nights out where we do shots and dance badly to Poison songs and sing 4 non blondes at the top of our lungs, and nights at home where we cook an amazing dinner and have a couple bottles of wine together, or just sit around in our pajamas playing video games and eating pizza.

I have been out of the dating scene for a while now. It's hard for me to find someone who is into sports as much as I am, I am so much of a fan that I feel I would never be able to 'tone down' that passion and need someone else as passionate for at least the Red Sox, the Patriots, or the Celtics. I'm a fairly laid back kind of guy and easy to get along with. That said, I'm still quite organized and driven in my goals. I love to laugh and spend time with other people. Had the opportunity to travel when I was younger and would like to do it some more in the near future. But for now, with the current economic situation, I'm sticking w/my job!

I'm 55 with kids that are grown and out on their own. I don't really know what to write here, or if I'll even keep this account very long. But I guess I should let you all know that I love to bake muffins and I love baking cakes. I'm the kind of person who acts on impulse, often making me broke or out of luck, but I wouldn't live any other way.

I believe the best way to go through life is by experience. I would have to classify myself as traditional values while being a calculated risk taker. I'm not afraid to fall flat on my face or embarass myself by being the butt of the joke even if it's mine. (i've done that plenty of times) and have a good sense of humor about that type of stuff. I've seen a lot, both outside and internally, in my (so far) fun and intense life. Although I am very focused on my work, I also enjoy the simple things in life like a beautiful day, power yoga and laughing my ass off. Most people think I'm witty, funny and festive but I also enjoy being alone. Co-dependency drives me nuts but I do love sensual, intimate times and consider myself to be monogamous. Music is a genre Iâ??m fond of and will give anything a listen to. For the moment my mp3 player consists of a healthy mix of hip-hop, rap, jazz, contemporary, alternative/old rock, swing, blue grass, blues, some country, pop, 80â??s/90â??s and the like. I'll listen to most anything, really. Grunge metal to Ludwig van Beethoven (maybe a little more of some genre's than others but enjoy them all time to time.)

I have been through a lot of changes in my life and still hold on to the outlook, "what doesn't kill us makes us stronger." I rarely hold grudges but it does happen from time to time. I am passionate about my opinions and will fight tooth and nail until I feel you have justified your point in proving me wrong. I have morals and convictions which makes me extremely stubborn. I am sometimes mouthy and highly opinionated. It does not mean I am stupid or ignorantâ?¦ And yes- I can be a pretty damn fine ***hole about it, too. Prefer to avoid confrontations but will find it hard backing down from a challenge when provoked. A quiet rebel and fiercely loyal. I have an addiction for acceleration. Find it hard to slow things down in my life (but still trying.) A lot of big and small things in an average everyday package.

During the summer when Mother Nature likes us, youâ??ll find me grabbing my gear, pack, and keys and going for a nice balmy cruise to no particular destination (you might call me a tourist in my home state.) In my pack you'll find a spare light, sweatshirt, beverage, sunscreen and a Frisbee most of the time.

I think a lot. Then write it down in my journal and never let anyone read it. I guess you should know I have some pretty radical politics by most standards. I'm a philosopher by nature, and have constantly evolving opinions on what constitutes the good life. In recent years and months I have been erring towards ideas involving homesteading, return to simplicity, rejection of consumerism, etc. And yes, I am aware of the irony of having an online dating profile given the above. I am not overly identified with a profession. I usually have a job, and for the past few years have tried to do something reasonably high functioning and/or in line with my current thinking. I am definitely still searching for meaning and direction, and probably will be for some time. I'm creative and introverted, sensitive, insecure, bright, shy, passionate, blah blah blah, a hundred words yet?

I love to read, to cook, and to hear music (I like to sing, but others don't really like to hear it). Tattoos are cool, as are motorcycles.

I've never done this before so I have no idea what to say. I like pretty much all sports. I'm not originally from the U.S. and speak 4 languages fluently. I have children that mean pretty much everything to me.

I've been living in Portland for about 3 years now. Living with some great friends and just enjoying life. Always looking to try new things. So apparently I need to update my profile as it has been the same for a year and a half it seems.

I am 20 years old and a male. I am quite fit and study Martial Arts. I am my own person and will think for myself instead of merely following ideas without deep, long consideration. I have a code of honor yet no religion.

I am an honest and straight forward person. I would only lie if it was the only way out of a truly unfair condition.

I don't think anyone can really describe themself in a little paragraph, but I'll do my best. I'm new in town and would love to meet some new people and get to know the area. I tend to be pretty quite person, but loosen up when I get to know someone.

I am a major bookworm and love to read and discuss whatever my friends recommend to me. I am also a complete movie buff. I have my comfort movies instead of comfort foods if that makes any sense.

I also enjoy just about anything active, indoors or outdoors. After sitting at a desk all day I'll use just about any excuse to be up on my feet. I tend to try and mix things up. Sometimes this ends badly for me, but it's all part of the experience.

Music is my passion, it's how I breath. My interests besides music:travel, finer things in life, Grey Goose martinis, big cities, big deserts, beaches. I used to have a Harley. Rollerblading, walking, yoga, reading. NYC, LA, Europe, filet mignon, Italian food. I have no kids and don't want any. I have no pets but am a cat person. Nice hotels, restaurants, musuems, movies, dancing, concerts.
Dislikes: bald men, hair on face, rude crude behavior, baseball caps, camping.

I'm a blue eyed blonde with brains (truly) who is 5'9-ish, average build, and happily mothering one border collie, two black cats, and two gorgeous and brilliant kids - one at home with me half time who will be off to college in the fall; the oldest a junior in college. Honestly, I have a nice life...my career fulfills me, I'm physically healthy and able to ski, bike, hike, kayak, and I can disco dance with utter abandon. I have great friends, though most are married, which can be a drag on New Years Eve, but most of the time it works out just fine. Still...someone is missing from my life. I know without a shadow of a doubt that I am meant to be with someone wonderful, but can't seem to find him here in Maine. So, I'm branching out of my comfort zone to search for the Great One. How will I know the Great One when he appears? Well, he will probably be tall with a quick smile and a sparkle in his eye. My work is serious and at times, can be emotionally draining - hence a man with a soft heart and sense of humor is endearing and attractive. I'm not looking for 'drop dead' handsome, but I think the best relationships work when there's shared physical, emotional and intellectual chemistry. Time's flying by and there's much work to be done and loving to do. Other favorite endeavors include gardening, boating, skiing, exploring dirt roads,volunteering, antiquing and auctions, and making our house a home.

I love art and creativity. I grew up in California, and moved to Maine in 2008. I work full time and pay rent for my studio and buy food for my cat. I like adventure, travel, movies, coffee, staying up late, and avoiding chaotic night clubs whenever possible. I like small groups or a couple good friends, and don't like big crowds. I paint every day. I go to the gym. I like walking around my neighborhood when the weather is around 70 degrees. I love nature and star gazing.

I paper the walls of my life with friends, lovers, smiles, dancing, books, coffee, hugs, warm moments, beauty and laughing till the point of tears. I aspire for joy and feeling full. (soul not belly) I'm just looking to meet interesting people. I'm not sure what else to get out if this other than new friends.

I wish we could do this the old-fashioned way, but it's not as easy as it used to be, so here we go:

I have a pretty rich life. I have a profession I am passionate about, friends who are dear to me, a home I love and two amazing dogs that keep my on my toes. I've been in different relationships but have not yet found the person I want to share my life with. I hope that at some point I meet someone who has a similar philosophy and together create something that feels right.
Having said that, it's not an easy thing and I'm willing to wait for the right situation. I'm sure there are some amazing people out there I have yet to meet and by doing this- it opens up the chance to meet new people, friends, dating and just seeing what happens.
A few things I enjoy doing are reading, being outside, going to movies, hanging out with friends and being spontaneous. I love to travel and explore-- both locally and abroad. Always up for an adventure- though owning a home and two dogs has shortened my rope for now. When I'm home on weekends, I like grabbing coffee or drinks with friends, hitting the farmers' market, going to the gym, gardening, working around the house...

I'm naturally quiet and mellow (not shy), but also can be both playful and intense at times. I enjoy both my solitude and being around others; I find it's helpful for me to have a balance of the two.

I am recently single and looking to meet new people. Whether it's dating, a date, hanging out, partying, whatever. I'm just looking to make new friends and have fun, if something more comes out of it, so be it. Music is my passion and hobby.
